Revelation of the Day

I’m either an idiot or a genius, but either way, I’m made for this work.

I’m either an idiot or a genius, but either way, I’m made for this work.
I want Delicious Library, and I think all of my Mac OS 10.3-using friends will, too.
I’m sorry about their draconian website requirements, so for those who can’t check it out, Delicious Library is software for cataloging a personal media collection, but it’s so ineffably pretty and OS X-like that one hardly notices it’s almost totally useless. But it’s useless in such an elegant and pleasing way, you see…
Sometimes you find software that is so clearly a labor of love, using it makes you feel all warm and fuzzy. LaunchBar is another such app, and has the bonus of being completely indispensable.
I may have made some kind of pompous statement, recently, about Pixar’s film “The Incredibles” being related to the idea of marginality in American culture. But that would’ve been a stupid thing to say, because any fool can see that subtext (if it’s even subtle enough to BE a subtext) for themselves. If I indeed made such a statement, what I meant to say was that such an incisive, insightful film comes at a particularly approprite time for me. I will explain.
(more…)Don’t give me no lip on the subject line. I work in retail, and even now the halls of my workplace are appropriately decked. I am just lousy with cheer, a religiously-neutral peppermint-and-eggnog box-moving warehouse-trained killing machine, and if I say the Tidings are Good and involve Great Joy, just smile and nod.
Sorry. Little loopy here. I get up at 3 AM nowadays. On to the Tidings.
(more…)There is Huge News to report, and more of the typical nattering and lunatic raving about music. I promise some of this tomorrow. In short: Work, and Self.
Also, The Incredibles was incredible; my favorite Pixar work to date. Big words, you say, but I’ll explain that, too, and relate it to marginality in America, in the fullness of time and rest.
Lastly, my trash can has been overturned by bears. Bears. Montana never lets me forget exactly who is boss around here.
